About Zeta Omicron
"Kappa Kappa Psi is a diverse fraternity dedicated to advancing college and university bands for the benefit of its members and society through: Meaningful musical experiences and enrichment, Transformational leadership development, Purposeful service to bands and support to band members, Lifelong fellowship and community.”
Kappa Kappa Psi was founded at Oklahoma A&M College (currently Oklahoma State University) on November 27, 1919 by A. Frank Martin, William A. Scroggs, Raymond D. Shannon, Carl A. Stevens, Clyde Haston, Clayton E. Soule, William H. Coppedge, Asher Hendrickson, Dick Hurst, and Iron Hawthorne Nelson. The fraternity is currently located at over 200 colleges and universities with over 5,000 active members each year.
The Zeta Omicron Chapter at The University of Akron was founded on May 27, 1973 by Edward Arrington II (first president), David Six, Ray Claus, Karl Tittle, Harry Bates, and Richard Jackoboice (chapter sponsor).
The current chapter sponsor is Dr. Galen S. Karriker, Director of Bands.
